• Has served as a speaker before members of the U.S. Senate Finance Committee, in the nation's capital, concerning financial issues affecting seniors citizens
• Has been recognized by FSU’s National Alumni Association as a Distinguished Graduate
• He was inducted into FSU's Athletic Hall of Fame in recognition of his contribution to the university through the creation and continued orchestration of Osceola and Renegade. His legacy is recognized with the "William M. Durham" plaza, situated within Doak Campbell Stadium.

Bill is married to his wife Leanne and has three sons. His favorite ”past times” are horseback riding, pontooning on the Flint, quail hunting and spending time at Alligator Point.
